I'm pushing 6 decades and it seems looking back it seems for every team that hires a winner, there's 10 that spend decades in the wilderness. Georgia post Dooley, Tennessee post Fulmer, Bama post Bear, Florida post Meyer, etc.
Would be interesting just to know for sure what the number really is of the chances of hiring a winner vs. setting the program back a decade or more. One of you young lads do your thesis on this and let us know.

An old man retiring is not the same as getting fired for bad results.

We fired Dinardo - got Saban - NATTY!

We fired Miles - got O - NATTY!

We fired O - got BK - back to Step 1.

We fired BK - dunno but seems like LSU is batting .667 on this program.

LSU clearly has to be considered an outlier due to their success.

By firing Kelly you just reset the clock back another 4 years, minimum.

Not saying Kelly did not need to go.....I was against the hire in 21 but the realities are what they are. What hired guns is the new coach going to get at QB and at least half the O line?

Because at the end of the day, only about 2-3 SEC teams will be happy with their season every year. Even if they all spent 100 million per year. So that leaves a lot of fanbases unhappy with the results. And the league is full of good programs and coaches. But the coaches know what they sign up for and get paid ridiculous amounts for it.

Unfortunately we also fired Mike archer and got curly Hallman and DiNardo. So yes we did our fair share of 12 years of floundering. We had a couple of good years but for the most part it was a dark period in LSU football history
