Kiffin and Lanning

Those should be the 2 white wales in this search. Not sure if Woody can pull it off, but I do think there's a shot. Either of them would immediately elevate the program and could make us a consistent national powerhouse for years to come.

No reason for lanning to leave, not sure timing will work with kiffin.

I don’t get why Lanning would leave Oregon

Dan Lanning hasnt really done anything....

Lanning has the easiest gig in America, he would be dumb to leave. He has nearly unlimited resources, no real competition on the west coast, and plays one good team a year.

Why do you want to overpay and be strapped to another coach for half a decade.
If Lane shits his pants like he did last year, everyone will be calling for his head because he will be making 15 mill a year

Lanning likely turned down Bama to stay at Oregon. He ain't leaving Oregon.

Maybe I'm wrong but I just don't see a national championship being won at Oregon or Ole Miss. Both could win one at LSU. As for Lanning, he's a southern guy and this is one of the best opportunities to get back to the SEC. Only gigs id say are better than LSU are UGA, UT and Bama and none of those will be open anytime soon. I think it's a long shot, but I do think we'll see some smoke around his name. Woody loves the big names and who bigger than those two

It’s not for us to try and figure out “why” a coach would or wouldn’t leave a job. Offer up a deal and see if they bite. Everyone looks strictly at dollars and cents, but when you’re already a multimillionaire, people have a tendency to say to themselves “where would i ultimately be happy at?” Maybe Lanning is an Oregon lifer, or maybe he hates the dreary rainy weather there.

Those are my top 2...with a significant divide among the rest.
Lanning first cuz he's from a winning coaching tree and proving it at Oregon.
Then Kiffin, cuz he just knows offense, at every stop. Plus, he fits with the characters LSU has had with Miles & O. And it'd renew the hate between theOle Piss rivalry.

Exactly. Id throw them both your best offer and make them tell you no before you move down the board

I think you need to remove Woody from the equation. I don’t think he will have anything to do with this hire. Who does have a say will be interesting to see

He's the AD he'll be very involved
Posted on 10/26/25 at 9:41 pm to tigerbait2019
His arse is on the line as much as Kelly’s. If reports are accurate that he was not involved in meetings last 24 hours to fire Kelly then he is a dead man walking.

Agreed man. Not sure who would even be my #3 but it would be a whole separate tier. After you get past the 2 mentioned I think you start to focus more on value bc not sure there are any slam dunks

His email to staff made it sound like it was all him but who knows
Posted on 10/26/25 at 9:45 pm to tigerbait2019
Kiffin, Drink, and Clark should be the main targets
Posted on 10/26/25 at 9:50 pm to TigahJay
Drink and Clark are both tier 2 behind Kiffin and Lanning
