On Friday night and into Saturday morning, The Stride Report received numerous messages regarding rumors surrounding Iowa State's men's cross country team.

Since then, TSR has confirmed with Jeremy Sudbury, the Director of Cross Country & Track and Field at Iowa State, that multiple men's athletes have been, "suspended from the team for the season for breaking team rules."

Word on the street is the team was doping behind the coaches back. Iowa state is one of the programs that has sold out on bringing in a ton of Kenyans recently.

I know most don’t care about this (understandably) but it’s not everyday you see a top ranked team rocked like this out of nowhere.

We care about real sports. The MSB doesn't care about being the best at excersing, I like to believe the weirdos who post about the WNBA don't exist.

I hate when teams sell out on Kenyans instead of investing in American talent but I will say some of my best teammates in college (in terms of just being genuinely good people) were the Kenyans.

I didn't even think about this being something that would happen but it makes sense. The school I got my undergrad degree from is an NAIA school but brings in a bunch of foreigners for soccer and they're always pretty highly ranked in soccer.

Yea it’s happened for ages.

In our case we hit on one that was a ncaa qualifier right before I got to Monroe then our coach went all out on bringing them in while I was there. Some worked well others didn’t. We had one girl that was just an absolute mess. You could tell we were just her free ride to the states and she couldn’t care less about running.

It sucks, really a shame for the kids here trying to do it right and get upstaged by Africans imported from doping factories

I thought the deal was that you sign the Kenyans so that you don't have to cheat to win.

On paper yes. I honestly think the pressure put on the ones that may not be as good as the elite elite runners leads them to doping.

You sign the Kenyans who are already doped and then you get plausible deniability

I loved our track HC. He’s a really good guy. But this always frustrated me. We’d try to get good locals but would always get outbid because most of our money was tied up in two Kenyans. That money could’ve been split to bring in more Americans that were equal to slightly better/worse talent wise.

Georgia has a girl right now, i think ranked number 1 in the nation for juniors. Just a normal kid, best ever high school runner in Georgia but some private school just imported a Kenyan like a month ago and is already nipping at this girls heels after being in the states like a week

Kenyans don't need to dope - they aren't just Kenyans. They're Kalinjyns.

They come from an area at high elevation (5000-7000 feet above sea level), with steep hills and valleys, and a dry temperate climate. Perfect place to train and you never lose a training day to weather. The culture emphasizes pushing through pain.

Top ranked Americans want NIL on top of a full ride. International athletes really don't understand how much money they can make. They'll come to smaller programs, do well, then get poached by high NIL budget programs after one or two good seasons.

I was very confused because the college freshman who is setting records is also an American named Jane and obviously fits none of the other criteria besides being very good at track.

Kenyans have had a really high number of failed drug tests in the last few years, after getting called out by the IAAF for their lack of testing infrastructure.

Unsurprisingly, their men are doing much worse at most events.

Emmanuel Wanyoni, who was essentially a child prodigy, is one of the only men who can keep up.
