not sure about the rest of the menu...

but the filet a carrabas is surprisingly good. it is better than bravo for sure.

pis....you should discuss with your friend his recommendation, that was not a very good one at all. we have beaten steaks to death on this board, but i wouldnt put bravo in the top 20. you might wanna rethink listenin to that cat!

The filet at Caraba's is hit or miss, from what I have been told. My old man is a steak lover and the first time he went to Carraba's, he swore it was one of the three best steaks he ever had. They cooked the outside to almost a perfect crisp - how he likes it. He went back two weeks later and the filet was nothing even remotely similar to what he had tried the first time. He tried it again and did not like it. In fairness, I have never ordered a steak there. It appears, though, that the first steak he had there that he loved, was accidentally overcooked just a tad, which he likes in his meat. Some steaks, in fact, do taste better when they're cooked longer and this from a guy who likes his steak nearly rare.

He missed with this one, but no one's going to get 'em all right. To be honest, I'd eat that steak again, I just might alter it a bit and eat some with the gorg on it or maybe even get it cooked slightly more. Steaks vary like no other main dish can...and it seems too simple to cook one well.

I know the many of you who eat at Commander's and August on a monthly basis will shun me for even talking about this place, but I will probably go back and get something else. There are definitely more overrated places in BR than BRAVO. Hell, there are three restaurants within walking distance and view of it that are more overrated.

*FWIW, my dad asked me how it stacked up to a place like Copeland's and I told him that Copeland's garlic filet was better. So, there ya go. Not a great steak at all. Not bad at all. I was impressed with the accuracy of the way they cooked how I wanted it. It was just the taste...nothing to die for.
