We called a week or so ago and the guy on the phone said the last two weeks in Dec were only grayed out because they aren't available yet. I was skeptical, but also thought... maybe, because another spot to visit (Dali Museum in Tampa) did not have more than a month out for tickets.

Now we called again today, and I guess that guy didn't know what the hell he was talking about. Grayed out = sold out. Makes sense, it's the holidays and everyone goes to Florida. Were told to buy at the gate the day before. Driving down Christmas Day with plans to stay in Orlando Christmas night and day after Christmas night and go to the park Dec 26.

I feel there is no way this happens, right? Not to mention the price for the tickets will be higher than if we had been able to buy online.

Haven't been to Epic yet since it opened. But used to go to UO over Thanksgiving week for a few years in a row and the lines to buy tickets at the gate always looked like you'd spend half the day in those before you could even get in the park.

I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. Especially given the fact that park is still brand new and everyone wants to go to that one.

Makes sense. Guessing that's why the latest advice was to go get tickets at the gate the day before.

Sounds awful.. driving down 6 hours then waiting in line another 6?

If I recall correctly, they do hold back an allotment to sell morning of/day before for hotel guest. But not 100% sure on that or potentially the holidays will be different.
