Kelly’s teams always end up at 9-3 where it’s not bad. But not good enough. I bet he beats A&M and even upsets Alabama. Everyone will be saying playoffs then he will lay an egg against Oklahoma like he did in 2022 to a shite Texas A&M team that quit on jimbo. Then lsu will just miss the playoffs but win a meaningless bowl game and he will beat his chest saying he won 10 games and the program is pointing upward. I can’t stand being stuck in mediocrity.

Dude, 9-3 this year would be a divine intervention by God himself.

9-3 means no playoffs with a $20M roster and a $100M coach so no

Yes - 9-3 would be great, but lets be honest we are not beating ATM or Bama with this staff and this OL.

9 other SEC teams have better odds of making the playoffs than us. 9.

Absolutely nobody would be happy with 9-3 in this scenario.

More likely we beat A&M, lose bigly in Tuscaloosa, & maybe we knock off OU to ruin their season. Thats still a failure of a season & now we’re stuck with BK

This team would need drastic improvement to beat 2 of A&M, Bama, or OU.

if u cannot make top 12 at LSU you need to go. period. end of story.

saban and miles woulda made multiple playoffs with a top 12 only requirement. instead they had to finish top 2 and O had to finish top 4.

We are currently 5-2

A&M - L, 5-3
Bama - L, 5-4
Arkansas - tossup
Western Kentucky - W, 6-4
Oklahoma - tossup

We are not beating both Arkansas and Oklahoma in my opinion. I think we win just one of those, so I believe our ceiling this year is going to be 7-5 and it's quite possible we go 6-6. If Western Kentucky somehow smells blood and plays lights out while we are injured and they upset us in Tiger Stadium the way Troy did that year, holy hell.

If you throw out the fact that I highly doubt that’s happening, I would be unhappy with 9-3 because it puts you in this no man’s land where LSU can act like everything’s okay and play the “just wait till we get em next year” card, when everyone and their mother knows that’s not the case.

Judging Kelly in year 4, missing the playoffs is a HUGE disappointment.

LSU has one of the worst OCs in all of college football, the offensive line is a disaster, and our only bright spot is the punter.

Even crappy teams don't fear us.

Ive got some good news for you.

Mediocre would be an upgrade, this team is in the bottom third of its league with Kentucky, Florida, Arky (maybe, we may lose that one), and Auburn.

I think that's a fever dream. I would be happy to be wrong, but I don't think I am.

It is an interesting question - LSU got a 10th win in each of Kelly's first 2 seasons with the bowl game. Both of those were 9-win regular seasons (2022 had a loss in the SEC-CG - which seems like a hundred years ago).

What does that say about Brian Kelly if his first 2 teams end up being the best ones? I mean, he brought in Daniels and that's clearly the difference. JD on this team? In 2025 with the defense (at least with Whit Weeks)? This would be the #1 team in the country and it wouldn't even be close.

The expectation was playoff this year, it would be an absolute disappointment.
