Scott Woodward deserves some heat, but I’m not on board with firing him. Yes the contracts he has given BK, and Jimbo have turned out to be disastrous. However, Texas Am and extended Jimbo in 2021 making it a little worse for them after Scotty left.

I think he hit A++ on the baseball and women’s basketball hires. Yes, it’s not football or basketball but on paper and at the time he hired away really good coaches, especially for football.

Over half this board wanted Jimbo and the fact that they (Texas AM) were able to steal him is pretty incredible. Along with hauling in Kelly, which was probably the best hire he could have made at the time besides maybe Kiffin.

This leads me to believe that we have a shot with any coach because of this. Like for example Dan Lanning, if there’s one AD that might pull it off it’s Woodward.

Like I said, he deserves some heat, but I still think he could pull us an elite coach with him in charge

Woodward is 2 for 4 . Jay and Mulkey were great hires. Kelly was a terrible hire and the contract he was given was even worse than the hire. If you think Kelly was a great hire then you are crazy !

Kelly was a great hire when we hired him. Yes it’s not looking great now, but who would have done better that was available?

Jimbo was a great hire when Texas hired him. Legit stole him from a top 5 program at the time.

Let’s not forget how hot of a name jimbo was.

Yes, I agree the contracts have been very poor especially the guaranteed money and lengths

I’m talking the first time. Not when LSU was searching in 2021.

BK was never a great hire. Ball knowers knew he’s always been an underachieving coach. But, sunshine pumpers started jocking the narrative that academic restrictions hindered BK at ND despite ND under BK being a top 10 supplier of NFL talent. BK was always terrible and culturally he doesn’t fit in the Deep South. Pay him off and move on.

No he wasn’t.

A lot of you overlooked his age. Some of us did not.

I despised hiring a coach in his 60’s. I understand what happens to 98% of people in their 60’s. Kelly is not one of the 2%’ers.

Your telling me the coach with the active most wins, and a coach who won everywhere he had been wasn’t a good hire? A coach that took ND back to relevance? A coach that brought Notre Dame to the championship game and the CFP 2 times?

At the time it was a great hire, yea it’s not working out now, but at the time that’s a great hire on paper.

Woodward needs to go first. He needs to be fired today! He cannot be allowed to hire another football coach. Let’s get someone new in that seat ASAP so they can start to figure out the best path forward for this football program.

Firing BK and not Woodward is only treating the symptom, not the root cause!

I actually think you're partially correct. I think Kelly was a better coach prior to arriving at LSU.

However, giving a 60-year-old man generational wealth and a vault full of fricking gold is probably not going to inspire him to work hard. From day one ithere has been smoke left and right that Kelly lives on the golf course and doesn't have the oversight a 100 million dollar coach should.

That doesn't make Woodward less culpable. I would prefer a committee over Woodward making the hire next round. Until LSU has a new president Woodward is not going to be fired.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but I don’t think he was available.

Dude is an elite coach, but when things get tough he runs. I don’t think he wants any part of the SEC nor dealing with NIL

Good points, and that goes back to what I was saying with the contracts.

I think Woodward still should get a say but a committee also getting a say as well. I’m not on board with firing Woodward completely.

That’s the problem with Woodward, he’s only great because he throws around blank checks.

Like legit, pretty much anybody on this board could do the same.

You can't make a thread complaining about ridiculous contracts and turn around and say he might be able to get Lanning. For one, thats highly unlikely and for two it would take an absolutely ridiculous contract to even have a chance.

It doesn't matter what we think anyway. I'm assuming Woodward is very well liked by the board and the people that matter.

I do hope Woodward asks the next guy to keep Thomas and Pettito. I feel good about those two behind the scenes. Unfortunately I don't think there's anything that can overcome Kelly's soft culture.
