Anyone have the numbers on this? You can the HC and bring in a new guy, he will want his own staff. What is the combined coaching staff buyout? I have no idea where to find this info other than a board like this.

They are not going to buyout Kelly and his staff of 60 million dollars. Then have to pay another 20 million to fund an nil team the next year lol. This is all talk and won't happen!

Maybe it is. But… other schools unhappy with their head coach, with massive buyouts are seriously considering it.

Almost every coach has the same buyout language. Full guarantee, paid monthly with no lump sum, full offset language and best efforts clauses.

So let’s say you fire Sloan, who makes right at $1 million a year and has 1 year left.

He can definitely go get a QB coach job somewhere, or even a mid major OC job, making $400k to $600k a year. At the very least LSU can argue that he can, and pay the buyout accordingly.

So now you’re only talking about paying Sloan (in this example) around $500k in equal monthly installments for a year, which is chicken feed.

And some of the position coaches will probably find jobs that pay enough to almost cancel out the buyout.

So the staff buyouts are basically meaningless. It’s paying Kelly a net $30 million or so to go away that matters.

The source is BK buyout is $51 million dollars in November 2025 … just for him.

Then you need to buy out his assistants and that will cost many millions. Baker alone makes over $2 million and Sloan Offensive coordinator makes over $1 million.

Then what will you spend on a New coach.

BK was making $10 million per year with Top coaches making $12 million per year (OSU, etc.).

If you are competing for the very best coach in America against others determined to hire him …expect to pay $12 million per year.

And before anyone brings it up again… Yes, the money can be paid over time. Jeez !!!
