Can someone give me some recommendations for courses public/semi-private/private in the Lafayette/Youngsville area? My family may be relocating there. I am a member of a semi-private club in MS. I play in two weekend groups of around 15-20 guys each depending on tee times and other. Play some during the week when possible. My home course now is very accessible, even on the weekends. Membership base is probably 425 individual/family. We have a men’s group with 1 tournament per month and an end of the season event (separate from the club championship) that runs 9 months out of the year. I am very active with my membership base and have made long lasting friendships with so many of the guys from the club. I hope to continue something like this if we move. Any information on membership fees/crowded courses to avoid/etc?

Thanks in advance.

Le Triomphe or Oakbourne would be the only 2 worth considering. Both private. Not sure on the membership cost these days

What he said.

The Werlands is a nice public option with some regular games and tournaments.

LT and Oakbourne. Public golf around Lafayette isn't good. The Farm and the Wetlands are decent public options, but tough to get a desirable tee time and not much in the way of games and social aspect you're looking for. I'd reach out to LT and OCC for the latest membership info

How old are you? I am not sure what the initiation is up to at Oakbourne ($7,500, I think), and monthly dues of $615 with a $90 quarterly minimum. Le Triomphe is comparable, I believe, and will be better if you are in Youngsville. I have heard that the course is in fantastic shape and is doing well under the new management.

I find it crazy that Jackson, MS has better options and rates than a town the size of Lafayette. And I say that for the Jackson area (Madison, Brandon, Pearl, Flowood)

I can tell.

Do any of the private clubs ever wave initiation or let it roll on the monthly. Our club always did a waived initiation once a year or every two years when membership needed growth. And our dues are a little over $400 per month and that is with a cart and we don’t have minimum in food/bev/golf shop but we always spend at least $250-$600 a month in club because I’m an idiot and charge it all.

Oakbourne does not. In fact, they are very close to closing membership. LT might do something because they lost a bunch of members under Donna's reign of terror.

There is also Cane Row in New Iberia, but I have heard it is deteriorating.

You heard wrong. They take great care of that course. It's in great shape compared to where it was years ago when it was about to completely close.

I don't know what their membership numbers are, but I haven't heard any rumblings of any issues there.

You’re pretty much right on with OCC. If he’s 42, he’ll be a full stock member (I’m 40). I think the initiation is $7,500 also (not sure as I’ve been a member since 2011 but I think that’s right) and my monthly stock member dues are $615 incl tax plus the $90 quarter food minimum.
The carts is where they get you. $26 per person per round for cart rental. You can save a shite ton of money there if you walk.

Pretty sure OCC lets you do an installment plan for initiation, something like 1/4 up front then 1/4 each quarter after that.

I am a member as well. I have played one round this year, plus a school booster scramble. I have no idea what I am doing.

LT is in the best shape it’s ever been, has good games during the week and weekends, very active tournament schedule, restaurant great, weight room about to be renovated and updated, pool maybe coming back by end of 2026.

come on.

I reached out to them today and received the membership info and application. Just waiting on my wife’s job offer and we should be headed out. Now I have to find a job. Haha. Don’t think “golf” qualifies in her eyes.

Tell me more. If I can combine my golf and gym membership plus pool for the fam, I may look into joining. How early does the gym open? I usually go at 6am
