The Virgin Islands are a popular topic. I have been to St.John, but plan to visit the BVI next July for the first time. My impression is that having boat access is almost a must.

Debating various boating options. I’m leaning towards having a room on one of the islands and chartering a boat daily to island hop.

Is this a reasonable plan? If so, any recommendations?

Thanks!

I typically stay on Virgin Gorda, and I’ve used Elaine with Bradley a number of times. We’ve gone to Anegada with her, have done the Jost bar hopping, and have done a couple all day snorkeling trips. All have been really positive experiences. She’s based out of Leverick Bay.

If you can swing it, nothing beats chartering a boat for the entire time.

Sail the whole time! We did it and after talking to people in the airport on the return, I realized how much more amazing my sailing adventure was versus hanging out by the pool and maybe going do a few cool things.

Find the places normal tourist don't go. You can do this on a sailboat. We found some awesome off the beaten path spots sailing that most tourist never lay eyes on.
