The red zone inefficiency alone

Should be enough reason to see what Shough has.

A QB “playing good enough” shouldn’t include 8 FG and 2 TDs in his best outings of the season. (And 1 of those TDs was from 87 yards away, while the other required a Taysom rush to get the TD.)

We know this league is all about finding the QB who can be “the straw that stirs the drink”. We know Rattler is not one of those QBs. We don’t know that Shough can’t be that guy.

We aren’t winning anything meaningful this year, this season should be about building for the future—most importantly trying to find out if your 2nd round draft pick rookie QB can be a viable “plus starter” in this league.

It’s nothing personal against Rattler, it’s in the best interest of the team moving forward.

Worst case he comes in and proves he doesn’t have “it” and you KNOW you need to keep looking for that guy.

Best case, he shows growth in his starts and that he might just have “it”.

You’re not winning at the highest level with Rattler without a 2000 Ravens type defense—and that’s not coming anytime soon.

Rattler has had 6 games with a real coach and his best weapons in order are Olave, Johnson, and Shaheed. Why does he get written off so quickly?

It’s not so simple as he’s great or he’s terrible.

He’s throwing better balls now as opposed to when he was throwing behind people and drilling the ball with every throw the first few games.

He still occasionally throws behind or overthrows someone.

He doesn’t progress through his reads well IMO which creates red zone inefficiencies. Last week he didn’t even look at his above 6 foot WR who was open in the middle of the field in the red zone. He looked at Olave and dumped it to Kamara for a 2 yard loss. His situational awareness isn’t great.

He had a good game today. We need better WRs and we need to find a way to run the ball.

He’s okay. But I don’t think he’s a franchise QB. He seems to just be a guy.

I’m not a Ratter hater, but at some point he has to put the team on his back and lead them to touchdowns and wins, not field goals and close losses.

Just a guy is exactly what Rattler is. Every team has one. He could be a high end backup. He is not a guy you should be counting on to win games.
