Managing a Pond Bank

I have about a half acre pond. The bank was in absolute bad shape with weeds and sawgrass and privet. I paid the neighbors kid some money to weedeat it with a saw blade. The grass is growing back very quickly and I don’t want to get my lawnmower too close so I don’t risk slipping in. It does take me about 30 mins to weedeat with string as it’s a half acre pond. Any suggestions to stunt the grass’s growth? I don’t want to roundup and risk erosion, but didn’t know if there are options where I don’t need to weedeat every week

I roundup mine…however, if there is any steepness to it, I wouldn’t do that for fear of erosion.
Also, if you do decide to roundup, buy glyphosate and not Roundup brand (which contains no glyphosate). A lot of herbicides and pesticides are highly toxic to fish.

Cypress trees are nature's bulkhead. As they grow just trim them up so they don't block your view. After about 5 years when the knees start you can spray weed killer along the banks with no erosion.

wax Myrtle is also excellent for pond edge erosion control

Just for clarification, Roundup from Monsanto does have glyphosate as the a.i.
I guess he is talking about something you can buy off a shelf in Walmart or something.

I deal with this problem also, I just weed eat it every 3 weeks or so but it's a pain in the arse. If only I had one of these
