need four nights between asheville and nashville this coming february. i realize the weather may be awful but its part of a road trip.

anyone have a suggestion of a town to pick or a really cool place to stay? we've done the basic cabin in the mountains/hot tub thing plenty of times, something different would be preferred. weather permitting we would do a couple days n the park then just chill and eat/drink

I will be in Bryson City in a couple of weeks. The couple that we are traveling with used to have a house there. I will ask some questions on your behalf.

Thats a beautiful part of the state, not in February though.

There is (was?) a candy/chocolate place in Dillsboro. The fudge was the best I ever had.

Bryson City is great, as well as Cherokee. As you mentioned, the weather that time of year may not be favorable, but if it is and you are a golfer, Sequoyah National Golf Club is amazing and worth a play if you have time and the conditions allow it. That entire area is beautiful, but most things close at around 5 pm, so be aware of that as well.

the whole road trip is home>athens>asheville>nashville>home.

we've decided to spend a couple nights in highlands NC between athens and asheville, if anyone has any lodging or dining suggestions for highlands i'd appreciate it. still undecided what to do between asheville and nashville...three nights MON/TUE/WED 2/16-19. need to be in nashville on 2/19

I live in cashiers and this area can become a ghost town from New years to the end of March. Highlands has some good restaurants if they are open. The old Edwards inn has a good pizza place 465 and a high end place Madison’s. The mountain fresh grocery has good breakfast and also pizza.

Here's a link discussing Highlands/Cashiers Plateau closing during early winter

Skyland lodge Highlands

This is an old Motor Lodge that houses one of my favorite restaurants in the area, Oak Steak. You might want to check it out.
