Looking to get the wife a new phone and possibly change providers. Her phone is with AT&T and we're paying right at 100 a month for the service. I don't want to switch her to anything with bad coverage area and i don't know anything about any of the other service companies. We've been with AT&T for a long time. She stays mainly in the I-10 corridor, New Orleans to BR mostly. She currently had unlimited talk/text and unlimited hot spot, although the speed is throttled back after a certain amount of usage.

How is the coverage with other companies, and what do yall pay?

Personally, I'm a T-mobile fan but I also enjoy the perks with tmobile. They do those t-mobile tuesday deals where I always get .10 cents off gas, plus yearly MLB TV (sadly as my Braves sucked arse this year) and MLS soccer for the season (sadly as my Atlanta United sucked arse this year).

Think I pay like 170$ for 3 lines but believe this might be a grandfathered-in plan.

Is visible basically a verizon plan that takes a backseat when/if the network gets congested?

I understand the reason they are cheaper is there are no physical stores, sales reps, customer service, and you essentially have to buy your phones through manufacturers, curious about the coverage

We switched from ATT to Consumer Cellular a few months ago. Uses ATT towers and haven’t noticed any coverage issues. My bill for 2 lines is $85 month including all fee and taxes and added unlimited data. ATT bill was $130 and 8 gig data limit. Did get small senior discount I guess with CC
Single line is cheaper, maybe around $35-45 month. CC customer service is much better helping to switch over and uses American reps, so a plus for that

No problemo. Like I wrote in one of the other threads, coverage problems (even in the middle of a metro area like BR) are probably going to be due to your phone trying to connect to a weak-ish 5G or 5G UltraWide tower, even when there's an LTE tower with 100% signal at the edges of 5G coverage areas. There are multiple 5G modes your phone will fight itself over, and this can happen even a few blocks from I-10, hence the coverage map suggestion.

If she keeps dropping while traveling about town, have her turn off 5G (forcing LTE) and see if her connection is more stable. This is also the thing to do during a power outage or disaster; it was the only way I could get text messages out during the Houston freeze, Harvey, etc.
