Hypothetical: We Shut Down Nussmeier 2 Weeks Ago

Nuss is currently a shell of himself from what we saw in 2024. Even if you're someone who saw him as an average QB due to decision making, you should still be able to admit that his throwing mechanics and strength are nowhere near what they were a year ago due to this torso injury.
So in hindsight, let's say BK did the right thing and shut Nuss down 2 weeks ago after admitting that he has been battling this torso injury and that it's limiting him (and possibly even struggling with the effects of patella tendonitis from August, but that's just speculation on my part). We beat Southeastern, MVB gets a full week of reps with the 1st team and gets to show what he's capable of in a start against an inferior opponent. Maybe that gives Nuss the time he needed to get back to feeling much closer to 100%.
Alternatively, maybe Nuss still needed another week even after resting against Southeastern, and sitting out against Ole Miss effectively gives him 3 weeks of rest with the bye week coming after. If so, we give MVB his 2nd week to get comfortable with the first team, and we throw a healthy, mobile QB at Ole Miss's poor run defense. Even if we lose, we get the built in excuse that we're resting our starter from the playoff committee's perspective. So you give yourself a better chance to win, and you shield yourself from getting blasted for losing this game.
Either we would have gotten a significantly healthier Garrett Nussmeier that isn't throwing fluttering balls and can hit a wide open Chris Hilton for a touchdown, or we get a fully healthy and mobile Michael Van Buren to give us a legitimate shot at winning a game on the road. Nussmeier's play falls entirely on Brian Kelly to me. A coach needs to know when his players are hurting the team due to injury. Just because Garrett technically can suit up and play does not mean he should.

If you sit him to get him healthy and let MVB start, the worst he could do is turn the ball over and go 3 and out constantly which is exactly what Nuss did. MVB was also a much favorable match up for that defense. OC also has an offense set up for a mobile qb and has a guy with brick feet back there running it.
This is all hind sight but these guys get paid a lot of money to do this. This is stuff that needs to be figured out before the games. That was one of the worst offensive game plans I have ever seen at any level of football.

I just want somebody to be honest and truthful. I see Jawurs Doucet interviewed him. He wouldn’t even answer The question
is coach staff gives you some bullshite reason of why he’s not doing well. It’s pretty obvious everybody else fourth fifth year guy he should be hitting on all cylinders now not going back backwards. Don’t take a genius to figure that out.

since we didn't do exactly as you said 2 weeks ago, BK should definitely do that for the next two weeks. Nuss should not play against SC and just hope we win another ugly game. Then hopefully Nuss comes back for the rest of our schedule with a strong body and velocity on his throws.
It really is the only hope we have left for this season. We all know we will lose 3-4 more games with this level of performance.
Also fire Davis this week and ask Mawae to come in and coach our Oline for two weeks. I am quite confident that we would be at least a tad bit better.
Let BK call the plays going forward and put Sloan out with Davis. If LSU doesn't make some pretty radical decisions, LSU football is going to lose some serious $$ going forward. They have to at least show they recognize there is a problem and attempt to change it.....so far that hasn't happened, and only the spoiled uninformed LSU fans know there is a problem

Nuss is injured
Everyone is lying to protect his draft status. Not like that matters though because saying he isn’t injured and performing poorly looks even worse.
Plus NFL teams will do a full medical evaluation anyway, so it will come out
Makes zero since to me

a mobile QB has 200 yards rushing against Ole Miss if they use the same game plan (which obviously they wouldn't)
The fact that Nuss never took advantage of the wide open running lanes and tried to find gaps with 8 men in coverage was the reason we lost. If he had a few decent runs then Ole Miss would've had to adjust their defense and thus our WRs may have found some openings without having every receiver doubled.
Therefore, I think unless MVB completely shat the bed, he would've given us an infinitely greater chance of winning the game.

This whole thing could have been managed much better than it has been. I’m not completely out on Kelly just yet but he fumbled this in an excruciating manner.

I agree 100%. Let MVB play against Southeastern and Ole Miss. Gives a full 4 Weeks of rest after UF win. Best case is you beat Ole Miss with your backup. Worst case is you lose to Ole Miss with your backup and you are able to look back and point to the backup.

Since mid-season 2024, he’s been throwing off his back foot. Reports from camp said DLine dominating OL which has led to him continuing to throw off back foot. His “torso” or shoulder issue has killed any velocity on his throws. All year his deep ball has been severely under thrown. 2x vs OM he had oppprtunities to get long TDs. 1st one was toThomas, I believe It was a 50yd gain but Thomas had to stop for the ball after being 5 steps behind corner. 2nd was to Hilton that would have been an easy TD and McElroy even said last year that’s a TD.
They need to announce his injury and say he’s having surgery or needs time to rehab and put VB in. Staff and Nuss obviously thought he could just nickle and dime defenses, not make high risk throws (triple coverage) and would be able to still score 24-30pts and win every game bc how good the defense would be. Unfortunately, when you remove the SE game, offense is struggling to get to 18pts per game. The experiment has failed and time to shut him down for injury issues, let him rehab for draft. Everyone can see he’s not the same and if they continue they are killing the season and his draft status is tanking

This staff is completely and utterly out of touch with reality
