I'm not Catholic but I always like listening to him. He wrote an article yesterday that I'll check out and was on to talk about it.
He was saying he didn't know much about Charlie Kirk until last week when he was assassinated and after doing some research on him and watching his videos he was quite impressed and a little amazed at what he had accomplished. He was comparing him to the Apostle Paul (St. Paul the Catholics) which is quite a thing to say from a Cardinal.
I think the message is the church (of all denominations) has been living off reputation waiting people people to come to them voluntarily instead of going to them on their "turf" to engage them at very formative times in their lives.
Just an observation

He is very down to Earth and likeable.

That's a sound observation based in wisdom

The churches shouldn’t be building mega buildings.
They should be in the slums trying to save the most wretched among us.
They should be feeding those who are hungry.
They should as you said be engaging with children as Jesus did so they hear the message early.
And yes, as Jesus challenged the Pharisees and money lenders, they should be openly challenging the sins of modern American culture regardless of whether or not it offends along political lines.
I don’t think Jesus is going to be impressed when the pope or modern prosperity gospel preachers show up wanting access to heaven.

i agree in theory. however, a church also needs to be in a safe place when possible. its a churchgoers storehouse.
our church has built several locations now in some of those areas you speak of as well as live streaming to prisons all across the Gulf Coast. But they were built up first to then gain the ability to extend their outreach. but i think we're preaching the same message, just different timelines.

the church is the people....who live a life MUCH removed from that of Christ....they live apart from Christ and we wonder why sinners stay away...

My church just installed a $10M outdoor pavilion with $1M sound system.
I hear what you’re saying but again I just don’t think it’s what Jesus would’ve wanted us to be focused on.

kind of apples to oranges. i agree their needs to be presence in certain areas of certain communities, and that is what this church has built. smaller campuses in some hoods.......not a pavilion and sound system. and they majority of the money they get in, is used to missions to the word out. that is their primary focus, spreading the word anywhere and everywhere.

This Church is also to be a community of families. There's a social aspect to it, and honestly it's one thing I think our protestant brothers and sisters do better than we Catholics do: establish a true community centered around the church and faith. Absolutely, there should be fiscal prudence though.

Yes the church should first be a body of believers that worship together and get fed The Word to grow together in their faith to have a closer walk with the Lord. Then they do other outreaches in the community or wherever they are called to help lead others to Christ . Both are important as we are commanded in the Bible to spread the Gospel. Some of these popular seeker churches lose sight of this and focus only on bringing more people in the doors but the people aren’t being fed and growing in their faith like they should be.
