The Hearing Protection Act Passed. So come January 1st you won’t have to pay a $200 tax stamp per suppressor.

So most people are waiting until January 2nd to go buy their suppressor.

The system will crash. It will be a 6-12 month wait again.

I picked up one last week after a 4 business day wait. If you want a suppressor, get it before the first of the year.

I don’t know what it’s called, I just know the sound it makes when it takes a man’s life.

After suppressor: pew.

The $200 tax isn't what kept people from getting suppressors.

^^^^^^

This is it. I don't want to be on the Feds list for anything. I wish I had bought one of the "parts washer" suppressors a few years ago. IYKYK

You get sub-sonic ammo and the only noise you get is the action running. I'm waiting for the tax stamp to go away to build the gun below.

The $200 is the least obtrusive part of trying to buy and use a suppressor. Until they take it out of the NFA, buying one is a pain in the arse. You have to complete about 4 questionnaires asking you the same questions over and over. Then, if you buy it as an individual you are the only one that can use it unless the owner is (with you). If you buy under a trust takes months to years to get approval. Again, the $200 is way down the list of problems with buying a suppressor.

True on some stuff.
I try to keep a chunk of my inventory through private purchases when I can. I'm about 50/50 private purchase vs Purchases thru FFL.
So yes, you are correct in part.

The $200 stamp was my biggest complaint. From start to finish, on a silencer shop kiosk, all of the paperwork to maybe 15 minutes. Approval has been easy over the last 18 months of so. Only took a couple weeks.

Could/should more be done for ease of ownership… absolutely. But, throwing away $200 felt like the biggest frustration.
