Clemson #53 in the nation (Several high NFL prospects)
UF #26 (Defense has not been their issue)
LA Tech #23

Like most fans I have not been thrilled with the offense but I am holding out hope that they will get it going and play better and HOPE that the three teams we have played are fairly good defensively. We will find out in the next few weeks.

So you’re saying if we play any of the #22 and up ranked defenses we’re likely screwed?

i see what you are trying to say...

but the reverse is, having played LSU, their defense stats after 3 games played were padded because of playing LSU

That is fair and that could be the case. My HOPE is that it is the other way around and we will know either way soon enough.

Well we’re 3-0 in said games so not exactly screwed.

What they are saying is a new Oline and new receivers are having to learn and grow against good competition. Maybe that pays dividends down the road.

Not sure if anyone has made this point yet. But it’s pretty clear we have a top 10 defense in college football this season. It must be very hard for an offense with lots of new pieces to develop confidence when going against such a high level defense in practice every day. Then it just so happens the first 3 opponents are also pretty good on defense. It’s like trying to teach a bunch of kids to play on a team together who haven’t worked together before but you only get practice reps against great defenses. I do think in the long run it’ll be to their benefit. But right now nothing looks easy. If anyone remembers Hugh Freeze saying how he told his defense to go easy on Jackson Arnold in camp to help him regain confidence. Same principle. When your confidence is not there and you’re playing very poorly, you take the difficulty level on the video game back to beginner until you master that and can move forward. Essentially, we haven’t had any “easier” defenses to master the fundamentals against yet.

Well, I am not a fricking coach so I do not get to be part of any strategy. How some on this board act like we have anything more than hope and a useless opinion is actually funny.

That was my intent. It is a joke.
