Graphite and Graphene Discussion

Starting a conversation about the greater graphite and graphene industry here. I specifically want to discuss the recent advancements and the imminent movement along with the major obstacles in the industry as whole.
First my background, I currently work in the carbon black industry and have previously worked in graphite (natural and synthetic). I am not an engineer by education, however have served in that role at times throughout my career. Coming from the mining and mineral industry, the advancements have really caught my attention and graphene in particular has become an obsession. Like Kevin Bambrough, I believe in this technology. Where I diverge from Mr. Bambrough is I believe there are several frontrunners in this space. HydroGraph is one, First Graphene is another and Haydale Graphene Industries (HDGHF) is another. There may be others that will see a break through, however at this time I speculate that these three are the current fronrunners.

Meka,
I like the steady rise this week in HGRAF AND First Graphene.
But I’m nervous that today or Monday, the tranches will come falling down and we will be back at 1.03.
How are you dealing with that?
::DISCLAIMER:: This quote and my associated response is from the HydroGraph Thread ::DISCLAIMER::
My position on Hydrgraph is unique to this board in that a majority of my shares were bought around $0.08 usd. I have been accumulating everytime it dips close to $1.00 usd and will continue to do so. My position in Haydale and First Graphene is significantly higher than HydroGraph, which I am working to correct.
If you have followed the graphene industry as long as I have, then you would see how far the industry has come. The competition is intense and most of the news flow only covers the for profit companies and not the research itself.
I see continued volatility with steady growth until the industry's reputation improves and the EPA finalizes their TSCA classification. Europe, Canada and Australia have already finalized their toxicology and environmental reviews and so those markets are currently more viable at the moment and we will see more upward movement in those markets as the current trials begin to wrap-up. Once the EPA finishes their reviews watchout! The amount of growth will be mindboggling.

I own Westwater, Versarien, Syrah Resources Limited (SYAAF) and Novonix as well. I know Novonix very well, it should be kicking-off very soon. I am very surprised it hasn't already...

Novonix is interesting and it appears they’re in construction phase with Panasonic as a customer?
How would they coexist with HGRAF if the latter gets moving? Is there a product/market differentiator?

They have several off-take agreements, but Panasonic is by far the largest and most significant. They are still pushing to qualify for Volkswagon and from what I know, they are close.
NOVONIX is synthetic graphite, their feedstock is green petroleum coke. They calcine it and shape the precursor material and separate it prior to introduction in their conversion ovens to process it into graphite. The resulting material is uniform in size and density with no impurities like those found in natural graphite. They do not compete with HydroGraph, in that they produce graphite and not graphene. It could be possible that they move into the graphene space, but to my knowledge, this has not been a part of the conversation. Their current market is providing battery anode material (other NOVONIX facilities manufacture the cathode material), however the Chattanooga facility is technically completed, een though they have not constructed all the planned furnaces. They do have several furnaces and mills in-place so they could start limited production. My hope is for them to expand their customer base beyond battery components. I would love to see them provide graphite material to the nuclear sector (micro reactor shielding), however I do not know if they have pursued this industry.

It was mentioned in The hgraf thread that yes, they allegedly produce pristine graphene.
And that these other producers may sell more bulk graphene needed in concrete, plastics, etc and their value could skyrocket while the specialty industries only are now realizing in the next 3-5 years that pristine is needed for theirs.
Both scenarios are good.

What are your thoughts on WestWater Resources?
My company did some work with WWR via Alabama Graphite some years ago and later I purchased more shares than I should have. Interestingly, the equipment that we sold has been sitting in a remote warehouse since then. Perhaps at some point they will implement the equipment but until then it seems like a fantastic waste of resources.

I was at the car wash today and saw this:

I bought 225 shares today

I've been holding Syrah for a while now. Do you think it will ever bounce back.

I'm also extremely bullish on graphene in the long-term, and I'm trying to build up positions in several companies in the hopes that one of them eventually takes off. I know graphene has been called a "supermaterial of the future" for about 20 years now, but it seems like we're finally close to some real commercial breakthroughs in being able to produce it consistently and at scale.
I wish I had known about this board when I began my investing journey. My first ever stock purchase was in an Australian graphene company Graphene Manufacturing Group Ltd (GMGMF). I bought 200 shares after seeing them in a YouTube video. Poor stock picking strategy, I know. My timing could not have been worse, as I literally bought those shares at the all-time high price of just under $5. Of course the stock immediately plummeted, and it has been under $1 since January 2024 with few signs of life.
Once it got down to about 0.50 I added 800 shares to hold 1,000 shares on the off-chance this company finally takes off when graphene does.
This thread has informed me of several graphene companies I wasn't aware of and will research more. Ozop Energy Solutions has one of the craziest charts I've ever seen. It starts at $1,850 per share in late 2018 and just craters immediately, and it hasn't been worth even $1 since 2020. Does anyone know what happened with this company? Seems strange. I'm tempted to just throw $200 into buying a million shares in case this stock ever rebounds

Insanely busy weekend and Monday and as things slow down I will post what I know regarding Westwater and Syrah.
This is not entirely a bad strategy, I have bought several stocks after watching "Undecided with Matt Ferrell"
I have not researched this company, however from what you are describing it sounds as if they had a (or several) reverse stock splits. You should check-out Mullen Automotive (I believe they are now merged with Bollinger Automotive).

Just start with 100,000 shares and call it a day for now.

There is so much chaos in the graphite space right now. Some is the trade negotiations, however some of the chaos is the ever growing quality standards. I believe the battery market is moving away from natural graphite based anodes. Although synthetic graphite is more expensive, the improvements they bring to battery technology are greatly outweighed.
As far as Westwater (Alabama Graphite) in particular, I am hopeful they will still begin their operations in Kellyton, Alabama. I see they are maintaining their permits. Based on the Google Street View from March 2024, it does appear they have stopped construction on their processing facility, but I do not know why? I do not live close to this facility, but have debated driving by...

Any other Pennie’s that have promise in the graphene space?
Why not get in at 100 vs 1000 right?

I scour the news for any commercial production agreement associated with this:
Rice University Carbon Nanotubes
This will be the next big breakthrough in graphene.

I know you mentioned Syrah a well. Your comment around Synthetic Graphite being preferred has me a little discouraged. You think Syrah has any potential to rebound?
