EA Sports Cancels NCAA Basketball Game Development

What a disaster.
2K is going after "The biggest brands" and the assumption is they are offering big bucks but requiring exclusivity with those schools
EA can't match that offer to those schools since they were trying build a game around every Division 1 schools.
Fans are the biggest ones getting screwed here. So instead of getting a basketball version of College Football 26, we are going to get something similar to what MLB The Show did with college baseball.

frick EA and their passive aggressive response to this. They are the reason why exclusivity has severely damaged the sports gaming market. Glad to see them reap the effects of that.

Is 2K going to release a college game or will the schools just integrate with NBA 2K?

I can't see how 2K thinks that is viable by paying schools to just be a skin or exhibition match choice, where is the ROI?

If I read that right, it sounds like 2K is extending exclusivity deals for these schools to appear in the NBA game. I assume this is part of the story mode (whatever it's called), where you play a handful of college games before you get drafted by the NBA.

Not defending EA but that is not what is happening here. This is 2K being shitheads and wanting to make two versions of the exact same game - one with a NBA skin and the other with 30 brands of their choice. Who the frick wants a college basketball game without having all the schools? What’s the appeal without enough teams for the tournament?
Say what you will about EA Sports, but 2k has been putting out the same broken arse game for 15 years now but basketball Americans love gobbling up that slop.

So it turns out that 2K is just as petty and shitty of a company as EA and doesn’t give two shites what the fans think or want. 2K knows dang well us buyers would lots rather a full stand alone college basketball game with all teams involved yet they don’t care. So f**k 2K right along with EA.

At least I will say that I feel like the general gameplay of NBA 2K is in a much better state than modern day Madden.
Madden feels like it needs a "from the ground up" redesign, but I don't think modern day EA is skilled enough to pull it off. They keep plugging holes and for every hole they plug 2-3 more open up.

Yeah no. The gameplay in Madden is easily superior to the gameplay on 2K at this point. 2k has a lot of fun little management modes but they haven’t changed a lot of their regular franchise mode in over 15 years. Their busted progression/training system is the exact same as it was when I started playing it years ago. They have a built in fanbase though who will simp for them no matter what and throw cash at it so they have zero incentive to improve ever.
Madden still has plenty of flaws, but this is the best edition in well over a decade. Probably since the 00s.
