The Saban method is dead

He retired because he knew his style could not work in the new era of NIL and transfers. The problem they have now is the exact opposite of lacking talent, they have too much talent who possess much of the power. The absolute dictator method will push them to leave. If they stay they wont listen and be led, as is happening to DeBoer. Teams will have to get better at recruiting character guys and let the prima donas bounce around the league. Questioning authority and not be accountable will ruin a team and the gumps have too many guys who feel that they are in charge

He’d probably be a Top 5 coach in the league if he still coached.

It honestly started to crater when he accepted transfers into the program (Gibbs and Burton come to mind).
It was no longer ride the line until you can beat the guy ahead of you. Taking in new, talented players broke the rules of the process.

He was the master of the old ways. It will take some time to see a master of the new, but several are starting to separate themselves. We are in that group, thank God.

He got his guys there using shady as fuk Methods. Then he got them to concentrate by using the CARROT/NFL to motivate them to riches. Was a master.

Probably took Underwood to show us the way. I like where we are. Just have to maintain it.

Saban was NIL before NIL became legal. Once it became legal, Saban no longer had the talent advantage he had always enjoyed.
