Storm tore my fencing up two weeks ago. Many of the vertical slates are detached from the horizontal brace. I can’t figure out what type of “rivet” was holding them together. It has a smooth head, aluminum, 3/4 of an inch long, and no screw threads, just smooth aluminum. At first I assumed it was a rivet, but now idk.

Sounds like that is some kind of rivet installed with a press. I would just use pop rivets.

That makes sense. I could pop rivet each side individually. It would take a rivet over 3/4 of an inch to do one, and they are hard to find and uncertain if they will work in my rivet gun.

Another option might be to get it welded. I used to know a dude who could weld aluminum coke cans together!

ETA: another option would be to just drill it all the way through and put a small bolt through.

Did the small bolt thing. Worked great. Thank you and all the others that answered.

Glad it worked out….in retrospect that seemed to be the simplest option!
