Anyone using a TV antenna for local channels having problems receiving WVLA 33 in Baton Rouge? All I get is a very weak signal, if any signal at all.

I have a roof top antenna and I'm 10 miles from the tower. All other BTR channels peg the signal strength meter.

Are you worried that you'll miss The Ed Sullivan Show or something, Gramps?

That's the best you got for a guy with over 22k posts? Go jump a shark.

Can you be helpful or are you just in troll mode?

I'd post this on the tech board, less juveniles there. Love ya Piggy!

If you could get WVLA, you could watch me go jump a shark.

Geez, just a joke, man.

I know, but I came here looking for a little help. I'm not posting in the OT board.

And I joked back at you. I'm not offended in the least.

But your reply about tuning into WVLA to watch you jump the shark was rather witty. Good one.

At least you ain't just lurking. And I know you never put up your antenna...so you're no help. LOL

I did put it up, just in a very bad spot in my attic. To lazy to move it and was not getting on roof to mount. Hulu started carrying local channels so the wife was happy and that is all that matters :-)

i do'nt even need an antenna to catch that station.
I can literally put a small piece of copper wire into the antenna jack in the back of a tv and catch that station clearly.

I did the same...I could catch it but only one bar.

Where are you located? I'm near College and Perkins.

That's odd. LPB and FOX/WVLA are the easiest to pick up in the Baton Rouge metro.

Hopefully you just need to adjust your antenna until you get them.

I use an antenna & the station closet to me, that should have the strongest signal, is the weakest. Sorry, I don't have a solution, but a tech told me something to do with local RF interference.

That's very interesting as that's the direction I'm looking now. I'm very close to their tower (10 miles) and according to the chief engineer WVLA is the most powerful in the BTR market.

Thanks! Very helpful reply!

Nope no problems with that at all. The only one I have problems with is WAFB/CBS since their tower is low power and pretty far away from baton rouge.

I'm also about 10 miles & the radion station is in between me & the TV station causing RF interference. That is what a tech (a guy I know & trust) told me.

I spoke to him & he mentioned shielding, &/or ferrite beads to block out the radio frequency.

Thanks my man. In my discussions with the chief engineer he never mentioned RF interference.

I'm just gonna have to fiddle with it.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the reply!

Are you able to get MeTV? My mom moved in with us and we can’t pick it up. And that’s the only station she watches

Is it worth getting an outside antenna?

Sorry, no, it doesn't show up in my channel scan.

But if you can, it's usually best to have an outdoor antenna. Check out https://www.antennaweb.org/ for a list of stations in your area and suggestions on the type antenna needed.
