Following the recommendations of many here, the wife and I took dinner at Dr. Jones on Veterans last Saturday. Outstanding.

Both chefs/owners trained in BR and worked for Donald Link and/or Besh as well as a stint in fine dining in Chicago.

We ordered the tapioca croquettes with camembert and a plate of the crab and corn spaghettini appetizers, and they were both very good. The wife is not a big tapioca fan, but I had no issue eating my share and her share.

We both had chicken la plancha. Crazy good with charred Jimmy Nardello peppers and garlic, along with lemon-infused olive oil. I wanted to lick the plate. Bread pudding for dessert left me wanting a bit more of the buttery sauce, but it was excellent as well.

It's pretty cozy in there (this is the former Yakuza House before they relocated to Severn) so you get to know your dining neighbors. The kitchen is very open and the chef met diners at the tables. Very "French bistro meets asian influence" going on with the menu, and it works. No liquor license, so stop by Martin's nearby and grab a bottle of wine before dining.

Great recommendations by those posters who have been there before. Thank you!

Yeah it's great, been once for lunch and once for dinner. Hope those guys make it there and then get a better spot, it's pretty small.

One of them used to own Blue Giant on Magazine.

I love Dr Jones and recommend it to people whenever I can as I want them to make it.

They just got another write up on nola dot com.

I have yet to have anything there that I didn't care for.
