Heading down Thursday afternoon. Fishing Thursday pm/Friday am. Launching at Fourchon public launch, targeting specs. Where to head? What are they biting?

Look on beach for rock piles or the barges since at fourchon. The in close rigs will have trout right now as well. I’d use live croker on the rigs and any plastics on the beach
ETA: plan to be at landing and idling off in the dark, and for the bite inshore to die by 8:30 am. And zero afternoon bite.
Fishing in the am, back a camp early, crab in middle of day. That’s the deal.

So, really not even worth heading out in the afternoon heat?

You can catch them in the afternoon heat but it depends on tidal movement such as when high and low tide will occur. The larger trout will be in deeper water though. Shallows will be too hot and trout are very temperature sensitive.

Drive little further. Launch at sand dollar and head to 4 - bayou. Fish the structures.

Walk the She Pup at dawn?

If you're launching at Fourchon hit the barges first light. Skim Elmer's for birds if the barges don't produce.

The pipeline at the beach is always worth a shot and may have some room on a Thursday.

I'll second the 4-bayous comment and GT beaches. Water has been a little better over there.

Keep moving. If they aren't there, they aren't there.

Fished east side of east rocks at belle pass this afternoon, from about 5-715. Started at the point and worked all the way back. Actually had a nice bite where the rocks run east to west. So many lady fish, a few hard heads, a few gaff top, a nice mess of little specks. Only one keeper.
It was a nice day on the water. Just enough breeze to keep it comfortable.
Hopefully find some keeper trout in the am.
