The nation’s average price of gasoline has held unchanged over the last week and stands at $3.08 per gallon, according to GasBuddy® data compiled from more than 12 million individual price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country. The national average is down 4.6 cents from a month ago and is 27.9 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has decreased 1.9 cents in the last week and stands at $3.671 per gallon.

“The national average is nearly unchanged from a week ago, with gasoline prices continuing to hover in the same territory where they’ve spent much of 2025 so far — in the low-$3-per-gallon range — as oil prices remain anchored in the $60s,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “Price cycling markets once again led the biggest weekly price changes, with Ohio and Florida seeing a cycle and higher prices last week, while Michigan posted the largest drop and could be due for another jump in the cycle sometime this week. For the majority of motorists in non-cycling states, gas prices will likely remain near current levels as we head toward Labor Day."

Oil prices have faced downward pressure amid hopes of a potential peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, as well as growing calls for an oil supply surplus forming toward the end of 2025. In early Monday trade, a barrel of WTI crude oil was up 15 cents to $62.90 per barrel, a drop from last Monday’s $64.21 per barrel start. Brent crude oil was modestly higher as well, rising 7 cents to $65.92 per barrel in early Monday trade, down from last Monday’s $66.93 fetch.

The fascination of some people with a .05 move in the price of a gallon of gas is pathetic. Do better.

There is certainly a lull right now in industry with a combination of still positivity for future but lots of short term nervousness.

Going to be quite a bit of pain domestically in the U.S. if this holds true.
