The legacy of SWB - lashing out at business owners because they dared to defy her. Zero excuse for DBR to be in the shape it is, just a direct reflection of poor leadership.

I was there today. Did the old state capital tour. Everything was clean and looked nice, but it was a ghost town.

I walked around downtown last night. I didn’t know happy‘s Irish pub had reopened right across the street from its original location. Which is now an Irish pub also.

Absolutely false. Once again having to defend downtown from low effort posting here from people who do not even visit.

I live downtown, go out drinking/eating 1-4 times per week. Went out last night, there was live music at Ohares as there is every Friday and Saturday. During the day it’s hot af and every business owner will tell you summer is slow until football season starts back up.

Perfectly safe and clean. There are a few harmless homeless people which is annoying but that’s every city. They won’t bother you.

Yes we could use more funding and new venues but overall it’s fine for what it is. For me less than 10 minutes from work and walkable.

Both are fine. I prefer Ohares with the large outdoor courtyard but also go to Happys with friends. I like Squeaky Pete’s the most, shameless plug for 4 dollar drafts Tuesday and Thursday. Great happy hour and food.

The Bengal Taproom has a new menu and management but I have not been in months so I can’t give an accurate review.

I always recommend them, my favorite downtown. I enjoy Little Village as well, Mathernes plate lunches are good too. I normally stop there every Wednesday for 5 dollar sushi rolls

Where do you go? I usually stay at the Watermark or the Courtyard downtown and the last few times I've visited it's been a ghost town.

Ohares or Pete’s. I don’t require a crowd to drink though.

Monday dead
Tuesday running club drinks at Ohares. Dead after 9
Wednesday dead
Thursday starts to pick up
Friday and Saturday are decent crowds
Sunday decent crowd at Ohares

Summer is always brutal crowd wise from what all the bartenders say along with my experience here last summer.

I used to run at O'Hare's back when it was still Happy's. The new Happy's across the street was ok, but I haven't seen much else going downtown.

The Watermark has a good bar and, given the options available during the week, that may be my best bet when traveling.

The Watermark also has a great happy hour and food. Not trashy enough for me but a nice and clean spot to hang out. Always people in there when I pass by fogging up the window

Where do you work in downtown Baton Rouge? People keep asking why it’s a slum and you’re exhibit A the town drunk.

I owned multiple businesses on 3rd street during Kips term and into SWB’s. Throughout her reign of terror I moved every single one of them to Ascension.
