According to a new report, the process to obtain a concealed carry permit and register firearms has been streamlined. The time required for both processes has shrunk from months to a mere days.
More from Fox:
The concealed carry permitting process and firearm registration process in the deep blue city have been slashed from months down to days via Trump’s Making DC Safe and Beautiful Task Force, which was established via an executive order in March to revitalize the nation’s capital. The working group’s work to clean up the city did not include changing local gun laws, but instead streamlines the city’s already established process, so law-abiding residents can more easily navigate the firearms system.
“President Trump is not only stopping violent crime in Washington, D.C., he is also streamlining the permitting process for law-abiding residents who want the ability to protect themselves and their families,” White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers told Fox News Digital. “The Making DC Safe and Beautiful Task Force has been working with local officials to eliminate longstanding obstacles and successfully reduced the average permit processing time from several months to just five days.”
Under the task force’s efforts, locals are able to book next-day appointments to register their firearms with the Metropolitan Police Department, while walk-in appointments are now available and advertised on the police department’s website.
Previously, applicants typically waited four months for a firearms registration appointment, a White House official told Fox Digital.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump announced on Monday that he is taking federal control over Washington, DC’s Metropolitan Police Department and authorizing the use of national guard troops to solve the “public safety emergency” in the nation’s capital.
Trump also called on Republicans in Congress to change the statutes to get rid of “no cash bail” and “some of the other things” that empower criminals in DC and other major cities across the nation.
“This is Liberation Day in DC, and we’re going to take our capital back,” he said.
Hundreds of National Guard troops and federal agents are being positioned throughout the capital to patrol the streets and arrest criminals and illegal aliens.
Federal officials are also enforcing Trump's March Make DC Safe and Beautiful executive order and bulldozing homeless encampments across the city.
In addition to the massive amount of violent crime across the city, President Trump decided to deploy the National Guard and federalize DC after DOGE worker Edward Coristine, AKA “Big Balls” was severely beaten by eight black thugs.

I've always had a problem with this "registration" requirement. THAT is the easy list for first confiscations. "Shall not be infringed."

Yeah I'm not ok with any "Registration".
Zero.
Zero.

My suppressor was approved by the ATF within hours of being submitted. It's taking longer for the retailer to ship it to me.
Eta
This isn't exactly relevant to the thread, but I wanted to give them props somewhere. Good first step to the eventual revocation of the NFA altogether

Concealed Carry Permit should be streamlined across the country. It should be a federal permit so the blue States can't stop you from carrying.

“Shall not be infringed”.
You can’t infringe to make something else easier. No matter how good you leftists think it is.

Suppressors should not have to be registered, and the A tee eff should be abolished.
Any win for the Second Amendment is a good win, but there still remains a huge, lingering question.... If the Second Amendment only exists to prevent the government from infringing upon the inherent rights to have and bear arms but the government has already established thousands of laws (locally, regionally and federally) to infringe upon those rights, is there even a viable Second Amendment?
It's probably just the spirit of Edgar Friendly in me, but if I want to own a full-auto M249 and a 40mm M203 beneath a bump-stocked M4, I should be able to without the government scrutinizing me. Why? Because I might suddenly want to, ok pal?
I'm a law abiding citizen with ZERO criminal record and the only thing to my name is a minor speeding violation from years ago. I work my arse off, pay more than my fair share of taxes, and I mind my own business. I volunteer community service and am active in voluntary clean-up and maintenance of public hunting and fishing land and other outdoor public spaces. I do my best to be a model citizen as much as I can in spite of my inherently antisocial nature. But if I got caught with firearms the gov doesn't "approve" of, I'd have the book absolutely thrown at me for all the above reasons. Meanwhile, Juan and Alejandro that are here illegally from Venezuela, and Tyrone and Shon'quvius from the hood can get busted with guns they cannot legally possess, and they get released without bail and ultimately face a slap on the wrist.
It's beyond time to balance this shite.

Many blue run areas even in red states will obstruct the permit process so that even if you’re legally entitled to a weapon they’ll drag out the timelines as long as possible until sued or forced to change by higher authorities.

I don't disagree with one single word. But in the world we live in, I still appreciate the baby steps.

That was one of the most cogent and coherent responses I have ever heard. In fact, we are all now more intelligent having read that.
I award you 1 million points and may God bless your soul and forever watch over you and your children.

I will say, that's the first time I've ever been accused of any semblance of intelligent response on this board.
Thank you. Made my day
