How would the Dome Patrol in their prime do on our current Saints team?

They would still dominate, but they would get flagged almost every series at least twice

I don’t know how Vaughn Johnson would do in today’s pass heavy game. I think he’d almost have to move to a down lineman position in today’s game. In the run heavy 80/90s, he was an amazing run stuffer. Just don’t know how he’d do today.

Jackson would be good, but he’d probably have to learn to drop back as well in pass coverage as well. But I think he’d be okay as a strong side backer.

As far as Vaughn Johnson, he was more athletically gifted than people give him credit for being. He has a 28 tackle game vs a passing team in the 49ers.

Look, I loved Sam Mills, but his glaring lack of height would be even more of a problem today. The position of tight end has arguably undergone the bihhest chanhes ovet the last 30 years. 6'6 giys whp run 4.5 40s are a dime a dozen now. Teams would be scheming this kond of mismatch each week. Running backs are heavirr amd faster now. For all of his toughness and football smarts, I just think that Dam woild be overmatched. Although, when someone has the heart of a lion like Sam did, he'd put up a helluva fight.
