Pretty sure there’s a few La doctors awaiting sentencing for this.

It’s a good start, but there’s way more to be found…. And yes, this needs to happen in EVERY STATE!!

You know, everything considered, that's not as bad as I'd expect

Actually, I agree with you on this. The problem is it should be zero but with anything involved with government there is going to be theft.

Well and state-centric databases. Like the clip discussed, LA doesn't know if someone dies out of state unless it's reported to the government of LA, for example.
Then some will argue that we need more auditing, but then there will be an inflection point where the auditing will cost more than what we save.

SlowAttorney I agree - this is way less than expected.
Texas for example is obviously far larger than LA but ours is around $4B and it seems rather easy to steal seeing as Medicaid is by nature very flawed.
The auditors and investigators are amazing in how they catch these people but there aren’t enough of them to catch all the criminals.

When?
100k

The reality is, 9.6 million pays the salary for quite a few (dozen) auditors.

That is not true anymore. The fed data is now shared with the states as far as death reports. What the individual states do with that information is another issue. Accountability is a bitch sometimes.
