Not asking for honey holes. Just general advice. Further south? Further east? Looking for limited range, 17 foot Carolina skiff with three above average sized adults.
Target species is speckled trout

If you’re chasing specks this time of year, you’ll need to take a decent boat ride to the east. East side of Biloxi Marsh and Breton Sound areas. In about 2 months or so they’ll start moving back in and you can hit the oil platforms in Lake Borgne and all the Lake P bridges

Put in at Rigolets Marina instead of the Pointe to get further East right now.

You should probably restrict your efforts to the Trestles area, because you can make a quick trip back to the marina in case of bad weather. Three large guys in a seventeen foot Carolina Skiff taking on Lake Borgne is probably not the best idea. You might want to launch at the Pearl River public launch on Highway 90 and fish the area near the mouth. Little Lake near the mouth of the Pearl can be productive.

Rigolets marina…
Where to head from there? How far east? Fish cuts? Chase birds?

Buddy of mine went last week and fished Lake Catherine and limited out with shrimp under a cork . I’m not sure exactly where he went .

Lake Catherine/unkown pass would be safest for you. To get from Rigolets Marina across Borgne to the marsh is about 20 miles. And you better make sure Borgne is calm…

What are they biting? Artificial? Live shrimp? Cocahoes?
I’ve got plenty of marker 54 shrimp. Been reading on here those are out fishing live shrimp.
Free line or under a cork?

I think that’s the area my buddy went and again shrimp under a cork . I’m sure artificial would work fine because his was dead shrimp

Guess you know what you’re taking about. We had clear water, tide was moving, bait in the water (mullet). We fished 4 hrs and didn’t get a bite??.
Nice day though, wasn’t too hot.

Is this area season specific, or were we just holding our mouths wrong?

Speckled trout is seasonal all over the place, not just Lake P. Trout move out to the high salinity areas in or near the gulf during the summer months to spawn. Then they move back inshore from early fall until the next spring. The only trout in the lower salinity areas like Lake P during the middle of summer are usually the undersized ones that haven’t reached spawning size yet.
Redfish and sheepshead should be a more consistent year round catch along the Lake P bridges and the marshes in the area.

TigerPrawn is giving you great info, I can't add much besides seconding what he's saying.
My question is whether your launch point is set in stone. I've been catching a ton of trout inside the marsh this year, but it's deep in the marsh in deep large bayous.
Whether you went to those types of spots or the outter islands, I'm not sure the Point Marina is best this time of year. For me I'd pick Bayou Caddy if you want to get to the islands more easily, Campos or Hopedale for the marsh trips.
