Why is it that I can’t name a beneficiary to my account if I live in Louisiana? Seems that Louisiana is the only State that doesn’t allow this??

i listed one for my ROTH and traditional. no issues.
now it will NOT let me list one for my solo401k trust brokerage account. maybe because i am the trustee and plan administrator.
Call them. that does not sound right. what do you have? a taxable brokerage account? retirement?

If you are married, my understanding is Louisiana requires a spouse's signature when adding or changing beneficiaries so it has to be done on paper through the mail.
Not 100% on this but that is what i remember being told when I changed it for life insurance.

Had this same thing happen. It is Louisiana law, not Schwab. It’s very annoying but it’s just another hidden cost of living in Louisiana.
