Which coach would you rather lead your program, Dabo or BK?

I think they are both good coaches but definitely opposite personalities. If you had to choose one who would it be?

Coach Kelly is our coach but Dabo knows how to be elite and win championships and until Kelly proves his value to LSU, I say give me Dabo.

Any fan who says he'd rather Kelly coach us against a top-tier team like Clemson at Clemson week 1 over a coach like Dabo is lying to himself and others.

The one who’s won 2 natties

It seems Dabo has entered the Les Miles stage of his career though (ETA: LSU fans would have had him fired in 2023 for going 4-4 in conference)

The one that knows how to win and doesn't talk shite like he's actually won something.

I hate Dabo but the dude brought Clemson 2 Natty’s and potentially more.

He’s a great coach.

Today? Probably Brian Kelly.

Dabo is younger and has two titles but his last title was 7 years ago. Dabo has been a pretty consistent 3-4 loss guy since that run fizzled out for him. Dabo had an incredible run with Watson and Lawrence but it remains to be seen if he will adapt to the new age of college football. Remember, Dabo basically ignored the portal and said publicly that NIL in his mind is building a program in the NIL of Jesus. That's not to criticize him for being a Christian but I think it's fair to say it remains to be seen if Dabo will go all in in the new version of college football. Kelly has shown this year with the portal and off field additions that he's all in.

Still Dabo even today? Clemson isn't recruiting to the level they once did and Dabo is still deciding how much he wants to embrace the portal and NIL.

If the question is who has had the better career, it's easily Dabo. If the question is today, August 4th, 2025, who would you rather be leading your program, I'd say BK.

This isn't to say Clemson isn't good or won't be elite this year, but Clemson the last 3-4 years is a far cry from Clemson in the late 20 teens. People forget that Dabo has had some hideous losses since Lawrence and Watson left town. I haven't seen Clemson be elite under Dabo in this new era of CFB and frankly, I need to see them be elite before I'm willing to assume they will be.

If Dabo went all in on the transfer portal, he’d be a top 3 coach

People bagging on Kelly are ridiculous. He took over LSU with no players. He had a total rebuild here.

He has also won two national championships as a coach and brought Notre Dame to the title game against Alabama who would’ve smoked us too.

He is their all time winningest coach as well. The way he is currently recruiting and building the roster, I suspect his championship is coming soon.

I don't disagree but that's the huge question. Clemson wasn't the same Clemson after the portal and NIL happened and he lost Venables. We'll see what Dabo ends up doing. Will he go the way of Ronda Rousey where he had an era of super high highs before the evolving sport caught up to him or will he embrace the changes the way Saban did in his career?

That to me is the question Clemson fans have to be asking themselves. Clearly, there was a time when Dabo Swinney WAS great but there's a huge difference between WAS great and IS great.

BK

LSU catapulted Clemson to where it was and we also took them down.

Let’s see

One has 2 national titles where he beat saban when the stakes were the highest.

The other has a bunch of wins but never won anything meaningful in his career at the D1 level.

What a tough choice.

That is true, but it's also true that since that run Dabo went on, he's had back to back 3 loss seasons and most recently back to back 4 loss seasons with some really ugly losses mixed in there. It's fair to say Dabo has the better long-term resume but he hasn't been nearly the elite level guy since Trevor went to the Jags and Brent went to Norman.

You're bringing up D2 championships? Why are we even arguing about Dabo vs BK then? Lets go steal Klieman from Kansas State. He's won four national championships as head coach
