Lawnmower smoke

Changed oil on Honda HRN lawnmower before the cutting season. When I start mower, a puff of white smoke always seems to come from exhaust. Can someone explain why?

Probably a little oil seeping past the piston rings when at rest. My mower does it as well. Never noticed significant consumption of oil though. I think you'll be fine.

May have over-filled a little, might be a leaking valve seal. GCV160 or GCV170?

How old is the mower and how large is the property you are mowing?

Over filling can do it… I made that mistake once.
I changed oil and assumed I had put in same volume I took out. It was actually different size bottles. Idiot me.
White smoke engulfed the whole yard. Once I dumped some out, it went back to normal.

Think it's GVC 170, maybe I over filled it. Thanks and Geaux Tigers!

Maybe...I ran mine twice while smoking out the entire street and decided to let it be someone else's problem after that. This is after I had someone try 10 things to fix it and nothing helped.
