SxS advice

I was planning on retiring my current GX to the ranch but after looking at what all it would take to keep it mouse free, I’m leaning towards just getting a SxS and selling it.
Need a 4 seater, less utility and more driving around shooting hogs and cutting up with the kids. Any to avoid or consider above others?

I’ve got on old Jeep Commando, 4 wheeler and sxs in my shop in South Texas and the rats eat my shite alive. I thought of building a cage to lower over them that keeps the rats out
Something I can raise and lower with a winch from the beams.
I’m in the market for a crew and I’ve got it narrowed down to these.
Can Am 1000 XMR
Can Am XT 1000
Polaris Ranger 1500
Polaris Ranger XP 1000
I wanted the new Kawasaki Ridge 1000 but I’ve read some subpar reviews so far.
I’m not a fan of the Honda fold down rear seats but that may have changed since the last time I looked at them. Looks like they have added a true full size 6 seater but it’s not as powerful as the others.
Another thing that sucks about the 1500 is they are no longer offering the ones that are like 28k they now all come somewhat decked out and are 40k plus it seems. I’m not willing to spend that much so unless I find a 24 model or a hella discount I’ll be looking at the other 3.

Just purchased this bad boy. Its off-road play capable, and work capable. We decided to go with this one because it has the jump seats in the bed for the grand boys…..$28k

I’m a big Honda fan. My brother has a pioneer and it has been flawless. I have a talon and it’s been flawless as well.

Polaris General or Can Am Commander. Drive them both.

Appreciate the info everyone. Whats too many miles for these things? Seeing plenty of affordable ones with 1000-1500 miles on them and idk how I should feel able that. We only get out there a few times a year so it won’t see heavy use.
Also considering working gov planet for a couple weeks to see if I can score a humvee on the cheap but I know that’s hard.

The mileage is less important than the average speed.
A low average speed means a mud bike or a spray rig... Neither of which you want.
Mud staining on motor? Stay away.
I have a ranger crew xp 1000. Added doors windshield and back glass.
My rangers always treat me well to 10-15k. But I dont mud ride. I spray. I ride around the property. And I get firewood. This one will likely disappear before 1k miles. ...the wife wants a cab and AC.
Will likely replace it with the exact same unit only with climate control.
If you don't need a cab, just get either the pioneer 6 seater, a mule profxt, or a ranger xp 1000 crew. BRP can blow me.

I go back and forth between the cab with ac and non cab. I’ve always had non cab. They are much cheaper and I use my truck for any real work. Mainly use the sxs to go to and from the blind and spray with.

I have a Yamaha RMAX 4. It’s been great so far.
Only takes 7 minutes to remove the back seats for more utility space when needed.

If my little boy didn't swell up from mosquitos, i wouldn't care. But a wasp does nothing... Yet a mosquito swells up

That’s nothing. It should have only had two oil changes, one rear differential/gearbox oil change, and one front differential fluid change. Typical of 2 years old. Find one well cared for in someone’s shed that they used for hunting and with stock tires and without aftermarket snorkel. Look under it well and in the engine bay and under the tilting bed to see if they kept it clean.

The XRM is awesome but unless you are doing serious muddling or riding, it’s unnecessary. I would highly recommend the can am limited or Polaris northstar. Both are fine, I prefer can am, but the climate control, and doors and windows, are such a game changer- especially for kids and wives.
I never thought I would be one of those guys, and it’s not really the cold that bothers me (especially with the heat the engines put out and my hunting clothing) but not being covered in mud and dust and dirt when riding along with the A/C when cruising logging roads in the summer is a game changer. Having a flip up windshield no doors is fine when you are moving, but when crawling along it gets hot.
