You guys ever see the movie "Sicario"? Benicio Del Toro uses an HK MP5 at the border crossing scene:
The build:
HK MP5A3
Knights Armament 97198 Handguard
Knights Armament 99049 Optic Rail
Aimpoint CompM2
Gemtech Suppressor (unknown model)

The Knights Armament stuff is basically unobtainable. At least for a decent price. The handguard alone can go for $800+. However, there are airsoft variations that apparently look, feel, and function like the real thing for a fraction of the price.
Knight's listings on Gunbroker (optic rail is even more rare).
Airsoft Optic Rail
Airsoft Handguard
My question for the group is this. If you spent $3,000 for a real HK MP5/SP5, would you spend the extra money for the name brand product (Knight's), or would you cheap out and get the airsoft product.
I feel as if I were to get one of the Turkish clones, I'd have no problem getting the airsoft variant. But I currently have an HK SP5 on layaway at my local gun store, and if I'm going to spend "HK Money" I need to get the real handguard as well.
The only noticeable difference between the two are the style of rivets used to attached the from mounting ring to the actually handguard rail. Knight's used solid rivets. The Chinese variants uses the hollow style rivets.
"What's funny is even KAC can't determine a difference..."

I only put the “good” shite on mine, so as not to devalue it so to speak. I try to stick with genuine HK parts where applicable, or B&T for certain things. I prefer mine to look basic/traditional though, without picatinny rails all over it like an AR.
ETA: to answer your question, yes I would try to track down Knights stuff if I were building that style out of my sp5.

I’d rather just get the Springfield Armory Kuna. It’s legit and a hell of a lot cheaper.
