What ever happened to the planned USL team in New Orleans? Seems like it would have a decent shot at success - similar sized markets have done well with USL.

(Spin off of NOLA Gold thread)

The group awarded the rights couldn't raise the minimum capital needed.

They were trying to come in at the top level of USL. With pro/rel in USL now would love for them to come in at a lower level and work their way up. Lower costs and better ability to build a following.

Huh? Think it was based on someone else paying for a brand new stadium as part of developing the river front area. Losing minor league baseball, losing rugby team, and continued decrease in New Orleans and Louisiana population seems like not a good chance of success

Nah! If this was ever seriously proposed, you'd see packed council chambers against the idea. Muh traffic. Muh noise...etc.....even if it were on the north side of 1088.....where literally no one lives.
