Why does the weather channel exist?

Seems like a tsunami warning for the west coast US/Hawaii is a good time to break to it on your channel that’s about weather.
However, Weather Channel right now….
Need to go back to the old days on the 8’s with the sweet background music

One of my good memories was coming home super late after a fun night of Christmas Eve festivities with the extended family, and accidentally going to bed with the TV on the weather channel in my room. Then waking up before the sun comes up on Christmas morning, hearing a saxophone version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas with the weather channel showing me how cold Christmas day was gonna be in my city

I remember when the news was a 30 min thing twice per day.
That’s all the news there is really. The 24 hour competitive platform now fabricates BS.
