23 horse Kawasaki motor.
Will start well. After about 15 minutes of mowing it begins to spit and run poorly. I have to engage and hold the choke to idle, roughly, back to the house. Had a mechanic I trust go through the carb already. Any other ideas on what to check?

Should have added that. Fuel filter was replaced. The one I got had a smaller capacity than the old one but it was replaced.

Have you done all the regular maintenance?

Ours was doing something like this - about 6 years old - and needed new spark plugs.

Oil changes, filters changes, etc at the end of each mowing season. Thanks for any suggestions from y'all.

I have the same mower and problem. (FIX: backfire prevention valve)
If you are having issues with your belt, this is the fix too. (FIX: comes from the factory with one pulley about 1.5" offset from the rest...)

Part is ordered. I'll let you know. Many thanks.

The part is the problem. He cut off the plunger. Apparently the part gets heat soaked and the plunger lets go and cuts off fuel to the motor.

Installed the new backfire preventer, same issue so I took the old one and snipped the plunger. Still not a fix. Stator perhaps? I will follow up when I get her fixed.
