REQUEST: recommend upscale BR restaurants

I have an attorney friend who will be in Baton Rouge for a few days in February. He would like to take his wife out for an upscale dinner or two while there. Just hoping I could help him out with some choices; however, since it has been quite a few years since I have lived in BR I have no idea where to send him.
Also, a daytime place for boiled crawfish would be helpful.
Thanks!

Not sure how "upscale" it is considered but I would suggest.. Louisiana Lagniappe".

I'd go with Jubans and Little Village.
For daytime crawfish: Sammys on Highland.

Best food is Louisiana Lagniappe.. But its not really upscale its really business casual for atmosphere. For upscale I would choose Maison Lacour or Brandt's Maisonette. Little Village is very good to and is close to upscale.

I tried to search this one based on the earlier post. Is this upscale Italian or am I looking at a different place?

Upscale Italian. Downtown on lafayette street.

Upscale Italian but they have by far the best steak I have had in BR. All USDA Prime and done in various ways. I have yet to have Italian there (that wasnt someone elses order) since I havent gotten past the steaks. The bread they serve is the best as well.

I would take a pass on Jubans. ehh its just not as good as it used to be. To me they strive for what Louisiana Lagniappe has been able to do much better.

Louisiana Lagniappe and Galatoire's Bistro would make my list of places to recommend to out of town visitors. I would not try to impress them with anything other than decent quality seafood dishes, and both do them well.
I don't know if or when Opie's will sell boiled crawfish, but it is an excellent place for a lunchtime meal.

Thank you all for recommending this. I had no idea they had opened a BR location!
I take it from the recommendations it is every bit as good as the original?

Galatoire's is very good. I would go there over any of the above listed.

The ambience is not as good as the new orleans location, but that's a given...the menu isn't as big as the new orleans BUT the food is just as good!!!...i feel so lucky to have this place in baton rouge.

btw, upscale in BR might not be what some people think is really upscale. Maison Lacour is pretty nice, but I would say 90% of the places listed on here you would look overdressed in a suit and tie.

Good to know. I will pass that note on.
