3 episode on Netflix about the disappearance of a Amy on an cruise ship in 1998. Very intriguing stuff. Anyone have a theory?

I still think the simplest explanation is probably the best explanation and she fell off the balcony, but that picture does look a whole lot like her and you can't completely discredit the eye witness accounts after her disappearance.

She just doesn't seem like the typical sex trafficking target for that explanation to make sense.

My thoughts exactly.

What do you mean she doesn’t seem like a sex trafficking target. She seemed to be dancing pretty provocatively with “ yellow”. She wasn’t an ugly girl.

I'm pretty sure she was abducted. What we have come to know over the last few years about the world of sex trafficking, this theory isn't far-fetched. I believe the Navy guy who saw her in the brothel, I think it was.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but a majority of targets tend to be women in some fringe demographic (e.g., significant financial distress, travelling or migrating alone, working in a high-risk industry). She was a middle class woman travelling with her family on a cruise. It has nothing to do with her looks.

She was 23 at the time of the cruise, college graduate, from a good family, and gay. I'm not saying it's impossible that she was targeted, but in what would seem to be a target rich environment, she does not really fit the mold.

This is what I think too.

drunk/hungover got sick, fell overboard

think she would have brought her shoes had she left the room or gone to answer the door.

It's tough to feel confident in any potential outcome. If she fell overboard between 5:30-6am then her body should have washed up on shore as the boat would have been very close to Curacao and the currents would have taken her body into the island.

But I'm also not 100% convinced that her dad saw her legs on the balcony when he woke up at 5:30, which means she could have fallen overboard as early as 4am or so.

They were over two hours out, no telling where the currents would have taken the body. It's very easy for the body to go somewhere else.

They have that jaw bone they never tested that washed up in Aruba.

She was trafficked, but I bet she's dead by now. I can't imagine a gang or cartel keeping her around this long after she's been used up.

Wasn't it two or three different people that have claimed to have seen her?

Yeah, her cigarettes and lighter were gone. She was drunk, went out for a smoke before bed, and fell off the balcony.

Yes, but the same can be said for a lot of missing persons cases, including cases where it turns out the missing person was dead before the alleged sighting. The photograph is, IMO, the strongest evidence that she was trafficked. It certainly looks a lot like her, but we obviously cannot be certain.

I'm torn as to what I believe based on the several witnesses who were so certain they spotted her, but dang nobody reported it....

the cruise director acted like an uncaring a$$hat.

And I can't help mentioning----who names their son Brad Bradley??? Weird.

isnt it said that if you fall overboard, it is highly likely you get caught in the propeller? she probably got diced and distributed around the sea

The people who claimed to have seen her appear highly credible witnesses..

Cruise ship personnel are not known for being particularly helpful during these investigations.

Regardless, it's not likely her parents and brother will ever see her again.

I wanted to smack that prissy cruise director.

I think she jumped overboard…. Either to kill herself or a drunken attempt to swim to shore

It’s pretty difficult to accidentally fall overboard unless you’re doing something really stupid/dangerous
