Senate Majority Leader John Thune said he is still negotiating potential changes to the White House’s funding clawback request hours before he wants to take an initial floor vote.
Asked if he had reached a deal to amend the $9.4 billion rescissions package and secure enough votes to pass it, Thune said in a brief interview that “we’re working on something, but I don’t think it’s quite ready yet.”
Thune will need 51 votes to take up the White House effort to claw back public media and global health funding. Several GOP senators huddled Monday night to discuss potential changes or clarifications they want, and White House budget director Russ Vought is coming to the Capitol on Tuesday to talk with GOP senators.
Thune separately told reporters Tuesday that while he supports the package as is, “we have colleagues who would like to see some perhaps modest changes made, so we’re trying to find out if there’s a path forward that gets us 51” and would still be consistent with the White House’s proposal.

budget cuts.
don't you have to be serious about a budget before you can even have budget cuts...

These DC Uniparty Skunks can't even agree on a $9 billion cut.
This^^^ is why the US taxpayer money needs to be cutoff from the Federal government and returned to the state level. The Federal government should present a budget to the states each year and the states would then remit their share of the agreed upon budget to the federal government for items such as national defense, large infrastructure projects, etc. All social programs should be handled at the state level.....competition among the states would breed efficiency and financial prudence.

9.4 billion is a rounding error in our budget. Seems like business-as-usual tactics to appear fiscally responsible while have no substance of it.

public media and global health funding
Two things that don't benefit America, and we shouldn't be funding.

Translation: Congress gives no fricks what the American people or President want, they will always to the absolute bare minimum to keep the gravy train rolling
Edit: for tMeltBros, this $9 billion rescission bill strictly for PBS, NPR, and. Global Health. There will be others that address other DOGE matters.
