“Dogs, pretty much across the board, will deliver that same neurological response human children do,” Silver says. This fact suggests something very profound—“that the relationship we have with our dogs has almost crossed into the territory of being as important to us as a biological relative.”

I’ve seen losing a child destroy a life. I’ve never seen that with a dog.

So no. Not quite.

The article does say there are some differences.

Also…. There’s probably a bit more acceptance in dogs. Dogs die, you know that going into ownership that you are likely to outlive them. You never expect to outlive your children.

Anyone who loves their dog as much as their kids doesn’t love their kids enough.

So stupid. Dogs are great, but they’re not your damn kids. That’s ridiculous

Eh, some dogs are shits. Some children are shits. Some parents are shits. They exist.

I don’t think this is saying people see dogs from a love meter being equal to kids. It’s the same type of neurological response. That’s all that’s being said

You go in knowing the dog is going to die. You don’t have the expectation of outliving your kid or that it’s only gonna be 10-12 years.

If your kid was born retarded or disfigured would you still love them more than your pet dog?

I got into a fight with an ex-girlfriend because I didn’t get her anything for MotherDay. When I reminded her she wasn’t a mom she lost her shite and screamed “I’m a dog Mom!!!!!”

The break up happened when we got into another fight because she got mad that I didn’t call and wish her a Happy International Women’s day. To which I responded, “WTF are you even talking about?”
