So....Austin Thomas still works at LSU, right? I have a hard time keeping up with him.

Waiting on the big write up that explains the significance.

NIL and relationships is my guess. He’s very well known. Ole Piss dans don’t seem happy for him to go. More to by per come says Shea.

I swear we get these types of hires every year. I don’t understand the positions.

Just looked at the staff page.

We have a these positions:

director of recruiting
Director of player personnel
Associate director of player personnel
Assistant director of player personnel
Director of player engagement.
Director of player retention.

Now this guy is director of recruiting
strategy

Guess this is the way of recruiting now.

Didn’t they have to replace Arcenault(s/p) and the Chief or Staff for BK

This seems like a big hire. MS always has talented kids and Baton Rouge isn’t far from home.

Need to keep the pressure up there.

Ole Miss is mad they wiped his profile with a quickness

Sounds like everyone knows him if you’re in Mississippi

quote:

Prior to his stint with the Rebels, Bolden worked for UCF and head coach Gus Malzahn as the program’s wide receiver assistant coach and Director of Recruiting Relations. Bolden worked under Dan Mullen at Florida in 2021 as the Assistant Director of Player Personnel, and his stop in Gainesville followed up two years at Arkansas as a Graduate Assistant in the wide receivers room in both 2018 and 2019.

The Perkinston High (Miss.) graduate is one of the more well-known homegrown athletes in the Magnolia State across the past two decades. At Southern Miss, Bolden logged 104 career catches for 1,393 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Exactly this. Keeping momentum in a state that’s usually spotty for us is huge. Weakening Ole Piss + State is down right now. Nothing but opportunity in the Sip. From reading their 247 board, he has stellar relationships all over Mississippi. He was also an integral part in revamping their roster through the portal these past few seasons.

High School recruiting, the transfer portal, player retention, NIL, too many parts within a program now. It’s no longer plan for this season and next, you have to plan 4 and 5 years ahead. Will a player stay for 4-5 years. The portal, do you have a player for only one year? Do you take a transfer that gives you 2 or 3 years. The continuation of a roster changes quicker than ever before. Early signing period, then signing day.
Years ago, the LSU Signing Day Bash, then a player would string you along, only to sign with another team.

A good friend of mine in the coaching profession has told me, you keep up with the kids, you can tell as to your chances of getting that signing day fax. He said you better be good at knowing before signing day, if not, you won’t last long in the profession.

Former LSU Head Coach Jerry Stovall once said, if a player gives me his word (A verbal) he’s coming to LSU, I take it. A man is only as good as giving you his word.

You are seeing more of these positions within the LSU program. Women’s Basketball went in full force, as to NIL.

Women’s Basketball, recruiting and NIL.
