Electrical Question

GFCI outlet just started tripping. Reset it and it trips again with nothing plugged in. I changed the outlet and the other one I know that is on that circuit. Still tripping . I will reset it and it will trip within a few seconds. It’s in the hall bathroom. Any suggestions.

Yes it does . I replaced it but still doing the same thing .

I would replace the breaker next

While you are changing the breaker, check that all the neutrals and ground screws in the distribution panel are tight as well.

Replaced breaker. Still tripping outlet with no load. Guess I’ll call in a professional.

There's probably more than two outlets downstream from that GFI. I would check all the bathrooms, the garage, and any outside outlets.

Check for outside outlet that may be corroded or wet from rain.

This. Had the same problem. Was a downstream gfi across the house. Reset it and all is well. Check everywhere for the red light.

Thanks fellars.. found the culprit. Outside on back patio . Never use it but It’s on the circuit and it’s ancient. It was corroded and a mess. Replaced it and all is well. Appreciate the direction. Enjoy your weekend

Good call, this is sounding like you truely had a Ground Fault issue.
