Hedges starting to brown after trimming them

So new house came with hedges out front. Finally got around to trimming them and used a gas trimmer. Did not trim by hand. Just basically did a straight trim to make them box shaped and I think they look pretty good.
However over the last couple of days they’re starting to brown in spots.
Did I possibly damage them? Is this normal? Just curious if I need to be more careful with how I trim them.

Probably not. This is a bad time to trim them, February would be better right before the spring flush. But the brown.....on the tips only? That's just shock from being sliced + the heat

Good to know. Mostly trimmed now because it was the first time we were able to time wise and they were unkempt. Will hold off on future trimmings until late winter.
