Kate Higgins, though born in Virginia, attended the university of Auburn for her education in music.
Her career eventually morphed into voice acting and she became known as the voices of popular characters such as Sakura from Naruto and Tails from Sonic.
Slide over to Nintendo, who was storyboarding for Odyssey back in the mid 2010s and Yoshiaki Koizumi and his crew had an idea where you collect band members for a major part of the game, which would eventually end up being New Donk City. They eventually decided on Pauline from the original Donkey Kong game being the mayor of the city and lead singer of the band.
This of course was the OG until 1994 when the redesign that looks much more similar to the current one came out.
So you get all the way to Donkey Kong Bananza and Kate Higgins has reprised her role as Pauline, but just as the 13 year old version this time.
Ever since Odyssey came out, Pauline the character has seen a humongous rise in popularity, being in almost every major Mario spinoff title since, ranging from Mario Kart, to Mario Party and sports games. She had 2 singles in the 2017 hit Mario title and right out of the trailer from the DK Bananza direct there’s already 2 songs you can hear that will likely be the game’s main themes in one form or another.

Some people were losing their minds about her being a kid in Donkey Kong Bananza and I have no idea why.

Makes no sense in Donkey Kong lore (yeah I know) and some in the devout Kong fandom have been calling for DK/Diddy team up for a while. This to them was a perfect chance for that. But they went with Pauline instead.
I’m just the messenger.

DK/Diddy team up
I fear the real life Diddy's legal troubles may have killed Diddy Kong forever.
Just like I doubt we see Dixie Kong ever again, for reasons completely related to the character's name only.

I think they both made an appearance in the DK Bananza Direct.

If they are in as playable characters with their names used I'll be surprised.
I'm at Universal Orlando this week and they do have images of Diddy in the theme park.
ETA: There is a Dixie animatronic on the ride. No mention of her name.

This was a good direct. Made me actually consider buying a switch 2. Loved the donkey Kong on n64. Just need them to announce a new Mario and Zelda and I’m in.

They released "Switch 2 versions" of BOTW and TOTK but I don't think they added much (haven't tried them yet). You don't have to pay anything for them if you're a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber.
Was there a new direct today? I have the game on pre-order so haven't been paying attention.

There was a Donkey Kong specific direct a few days ago. It’s was 30 minutes long and I didn’t watch the whole thing but it looked good.
The Zelda remakes don’t excite me for some reason. I loved those games when they were new but have no desire to jump back into them right now.
