So glad he was able to witness the success of the program he built and realize his legacy will continue long after he's gone. Even happier to see Jay carry the torch under his mentorship.

We are all blessed Skip decided to coach here and impact so many of our lives for the better. There's good and bad in this world. He represents what's good and this program is a reflection of that. There's honor in how he operates and those he surrounds himself.

He's a once in a lifetime special type person and I'm just very grateful we were all able to be a part of it.

Maybe the last he sees. Hope not. But if it is I’m glad he was there

Jay is just holding the rope.

It was very cool to see him there! Yes, we were lucky to have him.

While I will forever be grateful for the program that Skip built, I find it sad to see him reduced to being in a wheelchair now.

Not a criticism, but an admission that I hate to admit that perhaps the greatest coach in NCAA baseball history is getting old.

Bro is in his 80s. Looked like he was in his 70s in 2000.

He’s aged well since then

I saw a post that said he isn't wheelchair bound. More that he's a fall risk.

That’s one of the advantages of looking old at a young age. Kinda like Keith Richards.

The dude walked like he needed a cane in the 90’s. Haha.
I’m certain the GOAT can still walk out to the mound for a change. But at that age, just let people push you around.

Hell, I’d do it today if I had a volunteer

May very well be the last year he has on earth. Wife passed, he built and sustained lsu baseball, his legacy is sealed. Love what he did for the program.

College baseball was nothing much until the GOAT came here and showed everyone how to do it. Look at all the new ballparks. It’s all because of what he started here.

When they dumped the Powerade on Johnson on the field, Skip was standing in close proximity and some splashed on him, too. He was genuinely thrilled about it.

Yes I remember he had both hips replaced probably around 2000. Hes 87 now. He still gets around pretty damn good.

We should all be so lucky.
