Are drivers licenses an example of government overreach?

Humans have the right to travel freely without permission from the state.

Mandating a drivers license operates on the assumption of incompetence.

There are a multitude of unnecessary administrative fees associated with obtaining and maintaining a license and private car. Some may argue this is inefficiency and waste, and they are certainly burdensome.

Requiring a license and license plate only expands the surveillance state.

The incremental expansion of what licenses are used for demonstrates a slippery slope toward greater government intrusion in everyday life.

I don't consider having a driver's license to be that big of a burden. But we're not required to update them frequently in TX.

If your a teenage libertarian yes

If you are a grown arse man, no. It is not hard to get a drivers license, anyone who can’t pass a drivers test should not be on the road

Passing an actual written and physical driving test to determine if you should operate a vehicle on public roads? NO

Getting an annual inspection sticker along with updating registrations, etc, every year/few years? ABSOfrickINGLUTELY

Oh, and one more FJL and the republicounts for not getting rid of the inspection sticker requirement. I can't wait to move out of this shithole.

Not the same thing

I’m sure your concern is about the “liberty infringement” and not that drivers licenses are a useful tool for catching illegals

Yes.

Government keeping tabs on you and giving you a number to live under is creepy no matter what..... Unless you've been convicted of a crime.

Owning guns isn’t a shared public privilege nor shared responsibility.

Try again.

See? We do agree on something.

I haven't had a brake tag in at least 7 years. They can't expire if you never get one.

Driver's licenses are a useful tool for catching illegals?

Funny because all I hear is people rage about the fact that they can get them in the first place.

Don't know. Some system would develop.

Doesn't mean the rest of us have to be under the government's thumb being given a number and having to have their permission to drive to our parents house.

I'm not arguing for tests to own guns.

We can all agree that guns are much more dangerous than cars. If mandating a driving test is in the interest of public safety, why wouldn't that interest apply to gun ownership?

well that makes you blithering idiot, good luck getting through life like that.

believe it or not child you live in a city, in a county in a state and 90% of the government you can see, touch and feel happens to you on one of those three levels. people like you rarely interact with the federal government because you don't pay income taxes.
