Great memories! Does anyone know who caught the Morris home run ball?

I was fortunate to be there for that special moment and also to be there in 2023.

I’ll never forget. My Dad had triple bypass surgery scheduled that day and his surgeon asked to move it to earlier so he could watch the game. Just glad it wasn’t after, he was practically jumping up and down when we went back. My ex and I were at Georges on Highland watching while he was in recovery.
Csb. Best thing is, Dad is almost 99 now, so obviously the doctor wasn’t too distracted

He’s the reason I’m a fan today. I was too young to have really cared much before 1996, though I remember listening to games with my dad before that. This game, though, I was at my cousin’s house watching with him. I was almost 11 at the time and when Morris hit that home run, we went wild. It was the first real vivid memory I have of watching Tiger baseball and I’ve been hooked ever since. The same cousin and I were at the game yesterday, acting a fool still

I was a freshman at LSU at the time. I probably started following LSU baseball a lot around 86 or so. We went to a lot of the games when I was a kid.

Never gets old.
Off of the nations best reliever, Robbie Morrison. Of course “Morrison” means “son of Morris”
It’s too bad Crying Cora didn’t become as popular as crying Jordan in the meme world.
That Miami team probably wins a 3 game series, but Skip Bertman teams didn’t live in hypotheticals.

I remember when he went to play in the minors, fans of the other teams would chant "Warren" to try and rattle him.

I’ll never forget that moment. My now wife of almost 28 years were watching the game at her apartment in Sharlo. We had been dating for 6 months and she had been sick for a few days, so I was taking care of her. She felt terrible, but she was still watching because she’s a real Tiger.
When Morris hit that homer we both starter jumping up and down. I opened the door to her apartment and people were just running out of their doors and going crazy. I ran out there and was high fiving people I had never seen before. Cars going by were honking like crazy. It was like BR spontaneously combusted.
My poor wife spent everything she had after the homer and passed out for most of the rest of the day. I was super amped up, but she was out and most of our friends had already left to go home for the Summer. I couldn’t be sad after that moment, though.

I often think how lucky we LSU fans were that that homer was hit by Warren Morris, specifically. I could see a lot of athletes getting fed up with constantly being approached and being asked for things, and eventually turning away from the fans. In the years since, Warren has continued to be generous shaking all the hands, signing all the autographs, and recounting the home run. He is a great storyteller, and talks of that day and that season with the perfect balance of honesty, humility, and humor.

Hawthorne's best call ever.

I'll never tire of watching that over and over again.

Correct. He’s one of the best program ambassadors you could ever ask for.

Robbie Morrison was excellent that season. He has also been a great sport about it over the years. And has done memorial events and been very gracious.
I think that gets lost in the sport is also to be a good loser. Even though Morrison probably gets morris out more times than not on that day Morris was not to be denied. Great story all around
